In Singapore, majority of the people stay outside of the city and take the train or bus to work. I work right in the Central Business District and always catch a bus first then train to get to my office. Ever since I was old enough to go out with my friends, my Mom will yell at me from wherever part of the house she was in “Don’t forget your wallet, Keys and Phone!” Even till today, it still rings in my head and I still do a final check to make sure I don’t forget these 3 essential items! Here’s what I take with me everyday!
A Large Roomy Tote: I’m currently soo in love with my Tory Burch Perry Tote. The Perry Tote has been around for quite some time and when I was researching for a large bag where I could throw my stuff in and head out the door, the Perry Tote was my number one choice. It’s a quality bag, with clean lines. The simple, classic design matches my work wear perfectly! And.. it can also fit my laptop and files in there! what’s not to love?
Door Keys: I’ve been locked out of my house a couple of times so Door Keys are a MUST in my bag!
Phone: I know this is suppose to be a no brainer! but I constantly have to remind myself to check that my phone is in my bag. I’ve left home without it once or twice only to realised it by the time I reached the train station towards the city centre and it was horrible having to go without my phone the entire day! I’ll admit, I have a massive withdrawal symptom when separated from my phone.

EZ-Link Card (Equivalent to the Oyster Card): EZ-Link Card is my way to pay for all bus and train rides. No Card No Ride! There are now many more alternative payment methods, but I find using the EZ-Link Card and manually topping up the card a more efficient way to manage my finances and to track how much I’ve spent on transport that month!
Wallet: I don’t carry around a large wallet, but inside I carry my essentials like my ID card, credit cards and some cash in my Louis Vuitton Rosalie Coin Purse. This coin purse has slots for holding some business cards or credit cards and is still roomy enough to put some cash. It has a separate coin sections for my loose change! If you’re looking for a small purse to carry just your essentials you can think about purchasing this coin purse! My friends have seen me using it ALL THE TIME and has went on to purchase it for themselves!
Headphones/ Earphones / Pods: Listening to podcasts and music is an essential part of my commute. I get super claustrophobic in a crowded and tightly packed train carriage! Listening to Music / Podcasts distracts me and helps make my train ride slightly more enjoyable! I’m currently using Apple Airpods!
An Umbrella. Because why not? Rain or Shine you never know when you’ll need it!
Makeup Essentials: Especially when you need to go from day to night! For me it’s a Caudalie French Kiss Lip Balm in Addiction and the Clinique Blush Pop in Rose. Abit of tinted lipbalm and blush keeps me looking fresh through the night!
